Despite its long history, cannabis remains illegal in many countries, largely due to biases that lack scientific evidence. Conversely, alcohol, which poses significant risks of addiction and mortality, is socially accepted. This discrepancy epitomizes political decisions that are not grounded in scientific knowledge. While there are no confirmed fatalities associated with cannabis use, alcohol continues to claim countless lives. This contrast underscores the urgent need for policies based on empirical evidence rather than outdated prejudices, ensuring that the risks and benefits of various substances are understood and addressed appropriately.
